Review:

It’s another 5 sparkling stars for Ingrid’s book! God, I’m at loss at what I would like to say about this book. My mind was blown and I mean it in a good way. I know it’s not good to compare the two books she wrote—The Guys Are Props Club and this book, Girls Are Players—but I can’t help it. I gave both books 5 stars. And both are page turner but in G.A.P 2, it’s more angsty and in depth with the main character.

In The Guys Are Props Club, we see Jessica as “the bitch”. In fact, I totally loathe her character. There are times wherein a wish that I could choke her to death (Yeah, I can get pretty violent). I have no care at all with her character and have no interest in reading about her life story because like I said, I see her as the bitch and as the witch who will prevent the happily ever after of Sebastian and Maddie’s love story. So when I found out that the next book that Ingrid will write will be about her, it took me a while to convince myself that it’s worth reading it. But when I read the synopsis of the The Girls Are Players, I realized that maybe, just maybe, I will actually like the book and will know the reasons why and how Jessica turned out the way she is on G.A.P 1 and boy was I glad to give this book a chance.

Who would have thought that behind Jessica’s bitchy attitude and manipulative mind is a girl who is lost and just had her heart broken by the guy who she thought will be with her always. That behind her wicked acts is a girl who just wants to feel like she belong, that she is loved and that somebody really cared for her. And that the Jessica we all knew—the bitchy Jessica—is just a mask to hide herself, the Jessica that is lonely and hurt.

This book opened my eyes to a different view of Jessica’s character. All the things she did were just because of Taylor—the guy who broke her heart and shattered it into pieces. I think she acted the way she did because it’s her coping mechanism, it’s her way of saying to other people that she okay and that she moved on when in fact, she’s not. Now I understand her character because I’ve had my heart broken before and it hurts, a lot. And because you don’t want other people to pity you, you put up a façade. You’ll act like you’re okay but deep inside, it still hurts. I know a lot of girls (and boys too!) can relate to Jessica’s situation. We’ve all been there and done that.

I love the fact that the author revealed the reason why Taylor left Jessica near the end. It made us readers to have a lot of time to guess. One thing I love in reading is the guessing part. Though I didn’t guessed the reason right, I still had fun guessing.

Now let’s go to Taylor. Taylor was an ass…at first. I hate what he did during the frat welcoming party. Kissing Jessica like that and then telling her to leave him alone. What the hell, dude! You don’t kiss a girl (who might I add, still have feelings for you) and then tell her to leave you alone. Ugh! You’re giving her false hope. That’s just mean. But when I found out the reason why he left Jessica, it nearly made me cry. It made me think that he only did it for Jessica’s sake. And that all this time, he still loves her. It’s just so sweet if you think about it. Even though he acted like a total bastard towards Jessica, HE IS STILL SO HOT! No wonder why girls are head over heels on him.

Another reason why I love this book was because of Kim. Though she’s just a side character in this book, in my opinion, she really played a great role towards the change of Jessica’s demeanor. And she’s absolutely a lovable character!

My only complain about this book is the ending. I’m not contented with it. I WANT MOREEEEEEEE! Ms. Ingrid, can’t you write a novella (or maybe a book) about Jessica and Taylor’s relationship? I know this book is already about them but what I want to know is about their relationship. This book was about them getting back together and patching up the mistakes they did in the past. What I want to read is what their relationship will be like, what will they do now that they are back together, in other words, I just want another book or a novella about them TOGETHER. I love this couple, like really really really love them. And it will make me happy if you’ll write another story about them. Pretty please?

Anyway, you guys need to read this book. I’m sure you will really love it. It’s another page turner book from Ingrid Seymour. Go buy it! I promise that you will not regret spending your money on this book.

P.S. The sex scenes were haaawt! Mwahaha. ;D

Excerpt

Taylor stood in the shadow of one of the large, open French doors, but I knew it was him immediately. The slant of his shoulders, the casual way he stood with one hand inside his pocket, not to mention his tall, elegant frame.

I felt myself melt into a puddle.

He was just a guy, for God’s sake—nothing more than a flesh and blood man. He shouldn’t have this power over me, not after all this time.

He stepped out of the shadows. Moonlight fell on his face, and I nearly gasped. He was smiling tentatively, silver eyes wide and expectant. His smooth, brown hair wasn’t cropped like the last time I’d seen him. It was a little long and stylish. A questioning arch disturbed the perfect line of his eyebrows.

“Jessica,” he greeted in a low tone.

I blinked several times as I waited for my brain to jump start my lungs. My name on his lips, a sound I once took for granted, now literally left me breathless.
