Title: Unhinged (Underworld #1)
Author: Tempest C. Avery
Format acquired: Ebook (.epub format)
Publication date: April 6, 2013
Summary:
Spencer Perry lost everything the day her boyfriend died. Even when he came back as a ghost, she was never able to return to her old self. Determined to find a way to bring both of them back--him from the dead and her from her depression--Spencer hops a ride with a Reaper across the river to the Underworld where she meets the god of the dead. Hadrian isn't what she expected Hades to be like, but when he agrees to a deal that can get her Micah back, she puts all caution aside and accepts. Too bad she didn't realize that she'd also just accepted a lot more than one gorgeous yet frustrating god. Bad things are happening all around her, and now she not only has to worry about keeping Micah's ghost status a secret from their friends, but also figure out who's behind all of the accidents. All signs point towards Hadrian, but something about that just doesn't feel right to her. Something that she hopes has nothing to do with her growing attraction towards him.

Review:

I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for my honest review about the book.

I love mythology so it's no surprise that I like this book. And to think that this book focuses on Hades is a plus (He's my favorite among all gods & goddesses).

This is one of those rare instances which I had a hard time choosing which sides I'll be rooting for. The two guys, Micah and Hadrian are both likeable. At first, I was betting for Micah since he really is a boyfriend material. He's sweet, caring and protective of Spencer but then he turned cold halfway in the book so my attention was switched to Hadrian. It turns out he's not the jerk that I'm thinking he is. He really did care for Spencer.

A lot of revelations in this book shocked me. The truth about Persephone, the identity of Spencer, the one who is really behind the incidents that are happening to Spencer. The author really knows how to mask a twist because I surely didn't expect those coming.

Unhinged is a good book. If you're a fan of mythology and doesn't mind a love triangle in a book then this is the right book for you.
