Summary:

The spine-tingling horror of Stephen King meets an eerie mystery worthy of Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Liars series in Kate Karyus Quinn's haunting debut.

On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished.

A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon.

Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese's fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.

Review:

This is the first book I marked as DNF and decided to write a review of it. I really have no idea what's the do's and don'ts when writing a review for a book you DNF or if it's even allowed. Before you'll scroll down and read my review, you have to know that I was already 50% of this book before I decided to not finish it. So that just proves that I really did gave this book a chance. I really tried but this book is not just for me. :(

This review (if you could call it that) contains my reasons as to why I decided to marked this book as DNF. The first reason is that the genre of this book is not my thing. You might ask why did I read this book in the first place. First and foremost, I didn't said I don't read books that fall in this genre, I just said that it's not my thing. For the record, there are some books that I love that also falls into the same genre as Another Little Piece.

Second, this story is so confusing. Maybe it's because of the way the author write the lines or the sudden switch of POVs or maybe it's just me and my tendency to get bewildered when I lost focus on what I'm reading.

Third reason are the characters. If the story is confusing then the characters are a mess (in a confusing kind of mess). I just can't connect with any of the characters. When the characters are bawling their eyes out or feeling scared, I was just staring at the page without any emotions. I really want to feel what the characters are feeling but I just can't.

Lastly is the ending of this book. Yes, I did take a peek and read the ending of the book. And judging from what I've read, the ending is just as confusing as the whole book.

I'm not saying that you should not read this book just because I DNF it. You should. You might end up liking it. Give this book a chance. I did but sadly, Another Little Piece is not just the right book for me.

  1. How disappointing. The plot seemed really interesting. And I like the cover. I'll probably still want to read it for myself but that probably won't happen soon.

  2. Sorry about that. I actually was curious about this book but I notice a lot of low reviews for it. Thanks for the honesty.
